BARRIE KIWANIS MUSIC FESTIVAL

It is with great sadness that we are letting everyone know that Paul Channen passed away on June 27, 2009

He had so many talents and interests, but none were stronger than his support of the young performers in the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival.  He volunteered his time tirelessly for many, many years for the Festival, through both good and bad times, and for many of those years he almost single-handedly kept the festival alive and growing.  He was a particularly strong supporter of Composition classes, and especially enjoyed marshalling the Strings and Choir classes in the Festival.  More recently he was a strong supporter of our new Festival of High School Musicals, and was proud to attend the first ever Awards ceremony held for that Festival in early June.

He was a very gentle, kind, decent, honest man.  He is going to be sorely missed.  Our heart-felt condolences go out to his family.
